We started our c-store business in 2010, with one station in the Northern Neck region of Virginia called Midtown Shell. In just two years, the business grew from one location to four. The fourth store he acquired was the last remaining Little Sue Food Store, a brand with 40+ locations throughout Virginia at its peak that had since had many of its locations sold off to national brands like 7-Eleven.
With acquisitions happening rapidly, the owners chose to adopt the Little Sue name across all their locations, saving the local Virginia brand from oblivion. The owner’s son, Kunal Kumar, who had worked on the team part-time throughout college, stepped up to lead the company full-time as CEO. Through hard work and determination, they expanded the business to 12 locations by 2016.
Ever the entrepreneurs, Kunal and his brother Lakshya launched Pooja Energy in 2020 under the umbrella of Pooja Group, the parent company of Little Sue Food Stores. Pooja Energy supplies fuel to all their Little Sue locations, along with other fuel retailers.
Today, there are 11 Little Sue Food Store locations throughout the Northern Neck, VA region, one in Hampton, VA, and one in Ocean City, Maryland. The company also includes three Little Sue Wash car washes: two on-site at their C-stores and one stand-alone car wash. The brothers continue to grow their businesses and strive to provide excellent service to their customers.
